About Mrs. Scovone
Welcome! My name is Allison Scovone. I am originally from Farmington Hills, MI. Now I live in Livonia, MI with my husband, dog, and 2 cats. I attended Michigan State University for both undergraduate and graduate degrees. I have my Masters in Teaching and Curriculum. My concentration was in educational technology. I'm excited to try many new technologies with the students this year.
This is my tenth year at Thurston. For two years, I taught 1st grade. This is my 8th year teaching fourth grade. I have also worked at a charter school in Detroit, Novi Meadows Elementary School in Novi, MI and Pleasantview Elementary School in Lansing, MI. Thurston is my favorite school I’ve taught at, the community is wonderful and helpful.
I taught for The Princeton Review for nearly 6 years. Through The Princeton Review I taught, tutored, and trained test preparation for the ACT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, and SAT. Occasionally, The Princeton Review, would fly me across the country to train and certify teachers for these tests. I have written and edited books and online material including the "Quantitative Review for the GMAT" and "Early Edge for the ACT" as well as numerous GMAT test questions.
Besides teaching, I enjoy traveling with my husband, walking our dog (Luke), Spin (cycling), cross-training, running, web design, and reading. I also teach group fitness classes in Novi in the evenings and on weekends.
